We are seeking a Commercial Product and Business Development Manager for this exciting opportunity with a National Company that manufactures and provides a full turnkey service for sensory, pressure control and pressure management products along with data acquisition that are installed and used nationally across all of the UK’s gas distribution, clean water and wastewater networks.

Commercial Product and Business Development Manager – Essential Candidate Requirements

* At least 5 years’ experience of being the lead person for either product, commercial and/or business development within a business that is driven by national clients

* You must be able to demonstrate a proven ability that you are able to identify and meet the correct people within target accounts for business development

* You must have worked successfully in a product, commercial and/or business development managerial role within a company dealing with electronic/software-based products (i.e. SMART sensors, SCADA, telemetry equipment, data acquisition) from initial concept to end of life

* A very strong commercial background coupled with acute business development skills

* Proven ability to manage and influence projects across multi-disciplinary teams

* A project management qualification or degree in a relevant subject

* Proven ability to drive a business into vertical markets

* Full UK driving license

Candidates from the UK Gas Distribution or Water sector are of particular interest. Candidates from Oil & Gas, Electrical Engineering, Telemetry/SCADA or Petrochemical sectors will also be seriously considered.

Commercial Product and Business Development Manager – Role Overview

* The role is a hybrid role and is a mixture of home, remote and office-based work

* The firm would expect you to attend Head Office which is in the Midlands 3-4 days per week for at least for the first 3 months after which this would reduce over time and your ability to work remotely would increase

* Attendance at Head Office would still be required perhaps 2-3 days per month for key meetings

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director you will be expected to:

* Be accountable for:

* the identification and market research of new markets/territories

* updates of latest market/customer standards and applicable regulatory policy

* business development into new markets/territories

* Take the lead on meeting existing and potential clients UK wide on a regular basis

* Conduct VOC interviews

* Have the vision and acumen to ascertain how existing products could be used to provide solutions to clients’ business needs

* Develop new products using the relevant staff/teams when necessary

* Be responsible for all 5-year product roadmaps/lifecycles

* Develop innovation funnels

* Provide strong support into the commercial and business development teams

* Oversee the end to end product development in conjunction with other teams e.g. Project and R&D staff

* Take full accountability for the ultimate sign off on product releases

Commercial Product and Business Development Manager – Benefits Package

* A highly competitive starting salary of circa £75,000pa to £80,000pa

* Fully expensed executive company car (including a fuel card which covers both personal and business mileage)

* Annual bonus of between 10%-15%
