Engineer – Structural Engineering

Randstad Engineering are currently recruiting for an Engineer to come and work for TATA Steel, Port Talbot within the Pre-Engineering Department.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week, day shift) on a 12 month contract. This position is paying £35,000 per annum.

The Role

The job holder is on days carrying out Pre-Engineering of various aspects of works and
facilitating an engineering service covering all Civil/Structural activities. You will be
required to carry out all necessary investigations, (site surveys, works area
maintenance, fabrication, erection and the safety of all steel civil/structures including
access and scaffolding). Jobholder must also engage with contractors obtaining any
relevant information to fulfil his/her pre-planning requirements. Job holder is required to
have some experience in cost estimating and able to provide a professional
civil/Structural Engineering service to all project and capital developments when
required.

Accountabilities –

1.To be part of a team reviewing all notifications inspections reports raised by the asset
inspection team which have been carried out to all civil/Structural engineering assets
and develop a process for the delivery of the reduction of these notifications by
generation of workbooks for the execution department to deliver the work.

2. To be part of a team reviewing all business Risk Register reports with the senior
engineer of all civil/Structural engineering assets and develop a process for the
delivery of the reduction of these risks by generation of the necessary documentation
for the emerging works department to deliver the work.

3. Able to analyse and interpret the information from the electronic system via the pre-
engineering process and generate the necessary documentation for other
departments to fulfil the reduction of all notifications/risks

4. Initiates discussions, obtain detailed drawings, carry out investigations, interrogate
electronic systems, collate and prepare estimates for any proposed work.

5. Liaises with various department functions in order to obtain any information relative
for the re-engineering function and to engage with the relevant parties to fulfil this
requirement

6. Carry out all necessary investigations to fulfil the pre-engineering aspects and to
generate the relevant information for the Emerging works department to execute the
works

7. Carry out inspection of the works areas collating information on safe access / egress,
site clearance and safe working conditions in conjunction with Departmental
Engineers/Managers.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE (What is the essential requirements?)

Theoretical knowledge to HND level/ degree level in Structural/Building/Civil Engineering or
equivalent experience gained in either discipline.
