Engineer required multiple construction and energy sectors. As part of the clients built environment arm, they produce in-house precast concrete elements for onward supply to our own construction projects across the UK. Generally speaking, they manufacture precast stairs, landings, walls, columns and slabs.

In terms of an overall role description, please see below:

Role title – Precast Concrete Engineer reporting to Precast Project Manager
Location – Bathgate
Contract hours – (Apply online only) Monday to Friday. We don’t produce on a Saturday so weekend shifts happen only very occasionally.
Salary – is negotiable. Package will also include company car and fuel card, along with a company laptop and mobile phone. The candidates will be automatically enrolled on to the company’s pension scheme unless they choose to opt out. The client will contribute up to 5% on top of an employee contribution of 5%
Annual leave – Entitled to 25 days plus 8 bank holidays per year. Our year runs January to December

Role duties
– Carrying out pre-pour and post-pour visual and dimensional checks on units being manufactured
– Ensuring current drawing is available and being produced from
– Checking reinforcement assembly relative to drawing and specification requirements along with cover checks
– Positional checks of embedded items such as lifters, sliding connectors, Wells spiral tubes, conduits etc,
– Ensuring correct concrete mix is requested and delivered and liaising with supplier’s technician if concrete doesn’t meet required specification
– Inspecting units after de-moulding for finish quality and if any items have moved during the pouring process
– Populating Non-Conformance Reports if any units fall out with the specification requirements
– Liaising with sites for technical or quality matters relating to our products
– Collating all independent cube results data and submitting to projects when requested
– Maintaining our electronic QA system daily to ensure production dates are always live
– Taking photographic pre-pour inspection records
– Ordering materials from suppliers such as concrete, reinforcement or general consumables
